When you are looking for yoga, you usually go with a specific type, one that is influenced by a complete system. But every once and awhile a teacher (or group of teachers) will create their own system to try, and then market it under a brand. That is more or less what Jivamukti Yoga is…a brand of yoga that incorporates a number of systems into one to offer a Westernized style of yoga practice.
For some this will be great, especially if they are involved in yoga purely for the fitness benefits. The problem is that it is usually only beginners that look for specific brands of yoga, rather than a style, and Jivamukti is specifically made for intermediate and advanced practitioners. The moves are more complex, and rarely do they use any basic postures.
In the end, it is fine for those who are looking for a challenging workout, but it is so far removed from the many principles that make yoga so refreshing and enlightening that it probably not worth it for those more serious about method. I would probably not recommend any of the products in this line. You could get just as good of a workout doing pushups.
